The start of a new school year is a little brighter for students in the Fulton County region, thanks to some loving and generous neighbors.
Every year, Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown’s Fulton County Mission, based at Saint Stephen Parish in McConnellsburg, collects backpacks and school supplies for children in that area.
Led by Carmelite Community of the Word Sisters Martha Burbulla and Judith Karlak, a team of great volunteers recently prepared more than 400 backpacks for the students heading back to school.
As always, the 2020 effort was thanks to support from churches, organizations, and private donors – all of whom assist the Fulton County Mission.
This is the 28th year for the backpack program.
