Christmas Masses to be Broadcast on TV, Radio

The Proclaim! TV Ministry is pleased to offer two television Mass broadcasts this Christmas.

Bishop Mark will celebrate Mass at Saint John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown on Christmas Eve at 7:00 p.m. The Liturgy will be broadcast live on WWCP FOX 8.

“The diocese has televised the Christmas Day Mass for a number of years,” said Tony DeGol, diocesan spokesman. “This year, however, we felt it was important to offer a broadcast on Christmas Eve as well.”

The Christmas Day Mass from Saint John Gualbert Cathedral will air at Noon on WATM ABC 23. The Very Reverend James Crookston, Cathedral Rector, will be the celebrant and homilist.

“As the obligation to attend Mass continues to be waived by the Bishop, we look forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus with our television audience on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day,” DeGol added. “Hopefully the faithful will join us for both Liturgies.”

The tradition of broadcasting Christmas Midnight Mass at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona continues this year. Bishop Mark will celebrate the Liturgy, which can be heard live on WFBG 1290 AM radio.

“Our parishes look forward to safely celebrating Christmas with the faithful, but for those choose to stay home, the television and radio broadcasts are great alternatives,” DeGol stated. “We are blessed to have these opportunities.”
