Saint Benedict Parish Hosting Special Lenten Programs

297

Saint Benedict Parish in Johnstown is among the faith communities in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown offering many Lenten spiritual opportunities.

On March 5 at 3:00 p.m., a special slide presentation on the award-winning book The Via Dolorosa, written by Deacon Michael Russo, in diaconal service at Saint Benedict and Director of the diocesan offices of the Permanent Diaconate and Adult Education/Lay Ecclesial Ministry, examines the path Jesus took to the cross, discusses details, and brings out the deeper meaning behind each portion of Jesus’ journey to Golgotha.

On March 12 at 3:00 p.m., Saint Benedict will host The Shoud of Turin: Is This the Face of Jesus? It is a dynamic account of the history, science, Passion, and Resurrection evidence as seen in the Shroud of Turin. The goal of the presentation is to draw people into the heart of Jesus Christ. Each person can decide for themselves whether the Shroud of Turin is the actual burial cloth of Christ.

A free movie night at the parish is happening on March 19 at 3:00 p.m. featuring The Passion of the Christ. Be with Jesus on the last 12 hours of His life on the day of His crucifixion in Jerusalem. Relive Sacred Scripture as you go from the Garden of Gethsemane to the Cross, to the Tomb.

All of the gatherings are free and open to all.
