Parishes to Hit High Notes with Upcoming Advent and Christmas Concerts

 

Parishes throughout the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown are getting ready to treat you to beautiful sounds of the season.

Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Altoona will present an Advent of Christmas concert on December 11 at 7:00 p.m. The concert, featuring the adult, youth, and handbell choirs, will include a mix new music along with traditional carols.

An Advent of Christmas concert is happening on December 17, at 7:30 p.m. at Saint John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown. The program will feature the Greater Johnstown Diocesan Festival Choir and Divine Mercy Catholic Academy Chorale. The choral groups will be accompanied by the Hilltop Chamber Music Ensemble. 

Meanwhile, musicians at the Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel in Loretto will perform a concert — Christmas at the Basilica — on December 27 at 6:00 p.m. The concert will feature the Basilica’s adult choir and the Saint Michael School children’s choir. 

The concerts are free and open to the public.
