Knights Council Provides Scholarship Support and Community Service

Since May the Father Byron O’Hanlon Council #4678 of State College has provide time, talent, and treasure to the local community in a few forms.

Scholarships

Council Scholarships for a Council Member relation in the amount of $500 was awarded to Sophia Galvin (daughter of Brother Dan Galvin) and Rachel Dangelo (daughter of Brother Mike Dangelo). The scholarship is awarded to a relation to a Knight of Columbus based on scholarship, community involvement, Christian values, writing ability via an essay, and desire to pursue higher education.

State Scholarship for a Council Member relation in the amount of $2,500 over four years was awarded to Rachel Dangelo (daughter of Brother Mike Dangelo). The scholarship is awarded to a relation to a Knight of Columbus based on scholarship, community involvement, Christian values, writing ability via an essay, and desire to pursue higher education.

Support of St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy Students – nine $1,000 Scholarships were awarded to:

  •  Brandi Carmack
  •  Evelyn Reynolds
  •  Kyle Yangula
  •  Anthony Woomer
  •  Samuel Yangula
  •  Christopher Laskowski

Habitat for Humanity

On June 12, 2021, 10 members of Council #4678 volunteered renovating a home in the Woodycrest area of State College with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Centre County.  The members performed outdoor improvements including landscaping and pressure washing the house, as well as indoor demolition including removing the kitchen cabinetry, ceiling tiles, old flooring and wood trim.
