The Reverend Robert P. Hilz, T.O.R., 80, a member of the Franciscan Friars of the Third Order Regular, Province of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, died on November 30, 2022 at Conemaugh Hospital in Johnstown, PA.
Fr. Robert was born December 25, 1941, in Youngstown, Ohio the son of the late Robert G. and Elsa (Pitassy) Hilz, as well as his brothers James H. Hilz and Thomas Hilz. He is survived by his sister, Rosemary Kline and her husband Wayne, two sisters-in-law Susan Allen Hilz and Susan K. Hilz, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, their spouses and children, and his Franciscan Community.
Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. until the 7:00 p.m. Vigil Prayer Service, on Monday, December 5, 2022, at Saint Francis Friary at Mount Assisi in Loretto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at St. Francis Friary at Mount Assisi with the Very Rev. Joseph Lehman, T.O.R., Minister Provincial as principal celebrant. Following the Mass, interment will take place at the Franciscan Friars’ Cemetery, on the campus of Saint Francis University, Loretto.
