All Saints Parish in Boswell will be hosting its annual summer day camp for students who are entering kindergarten (age 5 and can use bathroom on their own) through 8th grade from Tuesday August 5th through Friday August 8th beginning at 9:00 a.m. and lasting until 4:00 p.m. (with one day ending later).
All students are welcome regardless of parish or religious affiliation.
In light of the election of Pope Leo, this year the camp theme will be “The American Catholic Experience,” with a special emphasis on the Fruits of the Holy Spirit.
Each day the students will learn lessons about faith and traditions with particular focus on some of the American saints and ethnic groups that help shape the lived experience of Catholicism in America (Slavic, Italian, Hispanic, Cajun, Irish, and German).
There is no cost to attend, however since the parish makes provisions for all students who are registered, it is asked that students who sign up for the camp attend the camp.
Every morning begins with celebration of the Holy Mass.
Following Mass, the students will participate in games, songs, crafts, and religious lessons taught by the Sacred Heart Sisters.
Lessons will include catechetical instruction, presentations on the history of the Catholic Church in the United States, ethnic traditions, rosary making, and even bread baking.
In addition to the regular lessons and activities the students will attend a field trip to Pittsburgh to explore a tourist coal mine, celebrate Mass at Saint Nicholas Church, attend a special performance by the Tamburitzan folk ensemble, and tour the Nationality Rooms at the University of Pittsburgh.
If you are interested in enrolling in the camp, please contact the parish office at 814-629-5551 or email parish secretary Emily Marsh at emarsh@dioceseaj.org.
