The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown Office of Vocations invites young men, 18 and older, considering the priesthood to several great discernment opportunities this summer.

Loggia nights return this year. Three Masses will be celebrated, followed by informal gatherings on the loggia, or porch, or the respective locations.

The dates, times, and locations are:

June 14, 2026
Mass at 5:00 p.m.
Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona
Gathering on the Cathedral rectory loggia follows the Mass

July 12, 2026
Outdoor Mass at 7:00 p.m.
Our Lady of the Alleghenies Shrine in Loretto
Gathering on the Basilica rectory loggia follows the Mass

August 9, 2026
Mass at 5:00 p.m.
Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona
Gathering on the Cathedral rectory loggia follows the Mass

The loggia gatherings following each Mass present an opportunity for young men to enjoy food and fellowship with some of our good priests.

Also this summer, two Desert Day options:

July 18, 2026
Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Bellefonte

August 1, 2026
Saint Bartholomew Parish in Wilmore

Both Desert Day gatherings begin with Mass at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Holy Hour. Afterwards, participants will enjoy lunch and then a hike.

The Desert Days are focused on prayer, reflection, time in nature, and brotherhood.
