Sister Eileen Quinn, OP — 1944-2021

SINSINAWA, Wis.— Sister Eileen Quinn, OP, died June 24, 2021, at St. Dominic Villa, Hazel Green, Wis.

Sister Eileen was born Feb. 8, 1944, in Chicago, the daughter of Frank and Helen (O’Reilly) Quinn. Her parents; two sisters, Sheila Mayo and Maureen Pitt; and a brother, Barry Quinn, preceded her in death. She is survived by nieces, nephews, and her Dominican Sisters with whom she shared 56 years of religious life.

Sister Eileen made her first profession as a Dominican Sister of Sinsinawa August 15, 1964, and her perpetual profession March 29, 1970. She taught for 51 years. Her classroom was a place of peace, happiness and learning. She loved first graders and that incredible year of growth and gave the hundreds of students in her care a strong foundation to move through their years of education. Sister Eileen served in New York, Wisconsin, Illinois and Pennsylvania.

In the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, Sister Eileen taught at Lock Haven Catholic School from 1982-1985.

A funeral Mass was celebrated at the Dominican motherhouse, Sinsinawa, June 30, followed by burial in the Motherhouse Cemetery.
