Former Pittsburgh Pirates star and current broadcaster Neil Walker is returning to Holy Name Parish in Ebensburg.

In celebration of Catholic Schools Week 2025, Walker will visit the parish on January 28 to meet and greet Holy Name School students and share the story of his Catholic faith with the youngsters.

The public is invited to meet Walker at the parish hall from 12:15 – 1:00 p.m. that day.

Walker played with the Altoona Curve, the Pirates AA affiliate, in 2007, and he was promoted to the Pirates AAA affiliate in Indianapolis for the 2008 season.

He spent the majority of the 2009 season in Indianapolis before being called up to the Pirates in September of that year.

The Pirates traded Walker in 2015, and he continued his MLB career with the New York Mets, Milwaukee Brewers, New York Yankees, Miami Marlins, and Philadelphia Phillies.

After retiring from baseball in 2021, Walker became an analyst with the Pirates broadcast team.

Walker’s upcoming visit to Holy Name will be his second in two years.

Walker came to the parish in February 2023 to share his personal faith story and greet photo-seeking and autograph-seeking fans.
