Parishes to Offer Special Prayer Opportunities This Month

Some Altoona-Johnstown parishes will once again sponsor various spiritual opportunities during this Lenten season, including the Infant of Prague Novena, the Sacred Heart Novena, and the Saint Joseph Triduum. 

The annual Novena to the Infant of Prague will be prayed at Saint Andrew Parish in Johnstown March 7-15. Eucharistic Adoration will occur each night at 6:00 p.m., and Mass will be celebrated each night at 7:00 p.m. Confessions will be heard every night after Mass.

The annual Sacred Heart Novena at Sacred Heart Parish in Altoona will be prayed March 15-23. Bishop Mark will be the celebrant and homilist on the opening night of the Novena, March 15 at 7:00 p.m. There will be Mass at 7:45 a.m. and also 11:30 a.m. the opening day.

Saint John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown will sponsor the annual Saint Joseph Triduum March 17, 18, and 19. Mass will be celebrated each night at 7:00 p.m. followed by Triduum prayers and the opportunity for the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Due to the pandemic, the parish is not hosting the usual Saint Joseph’s Table social on the closing night.
