Masses at Holy Family Parish in Portage are not being celebrated after a parish employee tested positive for COVID-19.
Out of an abundance of caution, all weekend and weekday Masses and other activities at Holy Family are cancelled until further notice. The pastor is in quarantine and will seek the appropriate testing as soon as possible.
Bishop Mark Bartchak continues to direct all clergy and parishioners to wear masks and practice physical distancing at all liturgies and other church activities. The Bishop continues to waive the obligation to attend Sunday and Holy Day Masses until further notice. Those who are sick or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 should not attend Mass. The faithful are reminded of the live Sunday Mass broadcast from Saint John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. on WATM ABC 23 and rebroadcast Sundays at 9:00 p.m. on Atlantic Broadband channel 9.
The diocese offers prayers for the individual who tested positive for COVID-19, the entire Holy Family parish community, and everyone affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
