Special Stations Enriched Good Friday at Johnstown Parish

108

On Good Friday evening, parishioners at Saint Benedict Parish in Johnstown led the parish in a dramatic presentation of The Way of the Cross.

The stations were based on Saint John Paul II’s Scriptural Way of the Cross, first prayed by the Pope on March 29, 1991.

The program, called We Were There, begins at Pilate’s judgment seat and ends at Christ’s burial.

This program offers a powerful, yet personal rendition of the Passion of Jesus. We Were There brings the journey to life through its personal, dramatic style.

“We Adore You, O Christ,” is announced each station. A character from the Scripture passage was named, and then a monologue was rendered; a short prayer was recited that responds to what was revealed in the monologue and applies the character’s meditation to modern everyday life. A verse of Jesus, Remember Me concluded each station.
