Diocese Announces Relief Efforts to Help Hurricane Victims

Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, and as Hurricane Milton looms, Bishop Mark Bartchak has requested that all parishes throughout the eight counties of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown take a special collection to assist storm victims on either or both of the weekends of October 12-13 and October 19-20.

The monies collected will be forwarded to agencies recommended by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, likely through Catholic Charities USA.

“Bishop Mark is inviting the local faithful to join him in praying for all those affected by Hurricane Helene’s destruction and for those who will be impacted by Hurricane Milton in the coming days,” said Tony DeGol, Bishop’s Secretary for Communications. “We are confident that local Catholics will respond generously to their brothers and sisters in this time of desperate need.”
