The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown is mourning the passing of a senior priest.

Reverend Donald E. Boslett passed on January 19, 2025, in Scranton following an extended illness. He was 91 years old.

Born on July 31, 1933, in Spangler, the son of the late Russell and Viola (Dunlap) Boslett, Father Boslett attended Saint Patrick School in Spangler and the Pontifical College Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, where he was ordained to the priesthood on May 30, 1959. 

His early assignments included Saint Leo Parish in Altoona, Saint Mary Parish in Nanty Glo, and Saint Therese of the Child Jesus Parish in Altoona. He also taught at Bishop Guilfoyle Catholic High School in Altoona and Bishop Carroll Catholic High School in Ebensburg.

He served as Pastor of Saint Joseph Parish in Williamsburg from 1973-1977; Saint Thomas Aquinas Parish in Ashville from 1977-1988; Saint Joseph Parish in Portage from 1988-1990; and Saint Mary Parish in Altoona from 1990-1995. 

Father Boslett was then appointed Pastor of Saint Joseph Parish in Renovo, an assignment he held until his retirement and appointment to Senior Priest status in 2008. After his retirement, he resided at the rectory of Saint Monica Parish in Chest Springs and assisted at the parish for several years. 

A viewing will be held on January 24 from 10:00 a.m. until the Noon funeral Mass, both at Saint Monica Parish in Chest Springs.
