School Choice Town Hall Scheduled in Johnstown

A coalition of School Choice advocates, including some from Catholic schools in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, will gather for a town hall meeting on October 22 at 7:00 p.m. at GapVax in Johnstown.

Representatives from nonpublic schools and organizations committed to providing education options for all families will be featured. Students, parents, and local business leaders will be among those sharing their personal stories and support for School Choice.

Presenters will include Dr. Merle Skinner, a Pennsylvania native and the Executive Director of the Christian Family & Children’s Center. Skinner is also the Executive Director of PACAPE – the Pennsylvania affiliate of the Council on American Private Education. The keynote speaker will be Corey DeAngelis, the Director of School Choice at the Reason Foundation. DeAngelis has authored or co-authored over 40 published pieces on education policy.

The event is being organized through a collaboration among the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown, the Pennsylvania Catholic Conference, CAPE, the Commonwealth Foundation, the REACH Foundation, GapVax, Bishop McCort Catholic High School, Bishop Carroll Catholic High School, Divine Mercy Catholic Academy, and Johnstown Christian School.
