From Bishop Carroll Catholic High School

On Saturday, April 26, Bishop Carroll Catholic High School will hold its sixteenth annual Carrollian Gala. At the fundraising event, several individuals will be presented with honors for their contributions to the school community and the world at large.

The Bishop Carroll Cornerstone Award will be given to those who have made a lasting impact on the school community. This year’s awards will be presented to the William and Lillian Myers Family, Father Carl Spishak, and Coach Cosie Aliquo. William and Lillian Myers are being posthumously recognized for their years of commitment to Catholic education, having 9 of their 10 children attend Bishop Carroll, in addition to other descendants and relatives. Coach Cosie Aliquo has been associated with the Bishop Carroll boys basketball program for 17 years, leading 9 teams to District Championships and 3 teams to the state final four. Father Spishak is a senior priest with the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese and was an original member of the Bishop Carroll faculty in 1962, serving at the school for 10 years.

Two individuals will be bestowed with the Distinguished Alumni Award. The recipients all used the foundations they received at Bishop Carroll and have made the world a better place. The winners include:

1988 graduate Father Brian Saylor, a priest of the Altoona-Johnstown Diocese, was ordained in May 1999. He has served the diocese in many assignments, including his current position as Pastor of Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Bellefonte, Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish in Spring Mills, is the Chaplain at Saint Joseph Academy in Boalsburg, and is the Chaplain of Camp Zacchaeus.

2013 gradate Mr. Connor Semelsberger, is a Government Relations Director at The Heritage Foundation in Washington, DC. He has previously worked as the Director of Federal Affairs for Life and Human Dignity at the Family Research Council, and a graduate researcher at the federal Department of Education.

The entire Bishop Carroll community is grateful for the contributions that these individuals have made to the school and the world at large.
