Mass Attendee Tests Positive for COVID-19; Masses Halted at Chapel

4217

An individual who attended Mass recently at a Cambria County parish has tested positive for COVID-19, and Masses are not being celebrated at the parish’s chapel.

The person was present at the 8:00 a.m. Mass on November 29 at the chapel site of  Saints Gregory and Barnabas Parish in Johnstown. The chapel, located at 408 Luzon Avenue, will undergo additional sanitization, and Masses at that worship site are cancelled until further notice. Masses at the Saints Gregory and Barnabas church site, 120 Boltz Street, will continue as normal.

Bishop Mark Bartchak continues to direct all clergy and faithful to wear masks and practice physical distancing at all Masses and other church activities. The obligation to attend Sunday and Holy Day Masses remains waived by the Bishop until further notice. Those who are sick or exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 are asked to not attend Mass.

The diocese offers prayers for the individual who tested positive and for everyone affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
