Family Life Office Offers Ministry Workshop

How are you supposed to respond when you see someone in need? If someone has just lost a loved one, is there anything you can do to help? How do you help your friends whose marriage is on the brink of divorce? So often, as Christians, we want to help but we don’t know how. In particular, we may feel we should have more of a response as a Church than we currently do. Because of this, the Family Life Office is offering a Ministry Workshop on Saturday, August 20, from 9:00am-1:30pm, at St. Matthew Parish in Tyrone. At the workshop you will learn the basics of ministry, as well as resources if you would like to take those ministries further in your parish. Some of the ministries that will be covered include:

Bereavement and Consolation Ministries, Marriage Preparation, Enrichment, Healing and Spirituality Ministries, Family and Parenting Ministries, Divorced and Separated Ministries, Walking with Moms in Need, Disabilities Ministries, Respite Care Ministries, Ministry to Persons with Same-Sex Attraction, Mental Health Ministries, and Sick and Elderly Visitation and Ministry.

This Workshop is free and open to anyone in our Diocese who is interested in learning more about how to help and minister to others. Pre-registration is required to ensure there are enough materials. St. Matthew Parish will be providing refreshments and lunch for the day. To register, please contact the Family Life Office at 814-695-5579 x0. You may also register online by emailing your name, phone number, and parish of origin to familylife@dioceseaj.org.
