Local parishioners and Catholic school students are showing an outpouring of prayer and generosity for those affected by the recent hurricanes in the southern states.

According the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown Office of Missions, the diocese has received $80,000 to assist the victims of Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton earlier this fall.

As parishes and schools continue to submit the monies collected to the diocese, that overall total is expected to increase.

Bishop Mark asked all parishes to have special collections over three consecutive weekends in October. He also invited Catholic school students to donate money.

The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown will send all money collected locally to Catholic Charities USA, which will distribute the funds to the regions devastated by the storms.
