Officials at Bishop McCort Catholic High School announced a gift that represents a significant investment in the future of the school.

Bishop McCort Catholic Academy Principal/CAO Tom Smith is happy to report that Bishop McCort has received a second $1 million commitment from Bernard Skubak, 1969 Alumna of Bishop McCort.

The gift is in support of the Bishop McCort Centennial Capital Campaign, which is entering the second phase of the most significant capital campaign in Bishop McCort’s over 100-year history.

The campaign has a goal of $6 million and has received more than $3.7 million in donations with Mr. Skubak’s recent gift.

Over 345 gifts from alumni, business leaders, benefactors, and parents have been made to the campaign over the past four years.

The Centennial Campaign has multiple areas of focus including capital improvements, developing endowed support for faculty and student retention, and enhancements to the curricular offerings and student experiences.

Mr. Skubak has been a long-time supporter of his Alma Mater, and this is his second pledge of $1 million to the school.

“I am delighted to continue my longstanding support of Bishop McCort and Catholic education in Johnstown,” Mr. Skubak said. “It is vitally important that students in the region have access to a faith-based school that emphasizes scholarship, service, and spiritual development.”

“This significant gift supports the exciting vision that has been established for our Catholic schools,” said Tom Smith. “A gift of this magnitude is testimony to Mr. Skubak’s confidence and belief in Bishop McCort Catholic High School and in the students that we serve.”
