The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown is mourning the passing of a senior deacon.
Deacon Ronald Kolonich passed on June 25 in South Carolina following an extended illness.
Born on August 25, 1949, he was ordained a deacon of the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown in 2009 and served in diaconal ministry at Saint Peter Parish in Somerset.
He and his wife, Jill, then moved to South Carolina where he served in diaconal ministry at Saint John the Beloved Parish in Summerville in the Diocese of Charleston until his retirement. Â
A viewing for Deacon Kolonich will occur on July 12 from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at Saint Peter Parish in Somerset, followed by a funeral Mass on July 12 at 11:00 a.m. at Saint Peter.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or Saint Peter Parish in Somerset.
