Proclaim! Magazine Young Adult Honorees Celebrated at Social

230

Proclaim! Magazine hosted a social and dinner to celebrate the young adult honorees featured in the spring edition.

All pastors were invited to nominate 20- and 30-somethings who exhibit an evangelizing spirit and generously share their time and talent in service to their parish or the wider Church community.

The 2024 honorees featured in the magazine were: Sara Aungst of Holy Family Parish in Portage; Caleb Bean, a member of Saint Anthony of Padua Parish in Windber; Autumn Custer of Our Lady of the Alleghenies Parish in Lilly; Joy Eckenrode, also a parishioner at Our Lady of the Alleghenies; and Geoffrey Stumpo, who belongs here at Saint John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown.

In recognition of their accomplishments and contributions, the honorees, their guests, and their pastors were invited to a gathering at Amici’s in Ebensburg on May 31, which was generously sponsored by Keller Engineers of Hollidaysburg.

The evening included hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, and mingling; a buffet dinner by Amici’s; desserts from On the Rise Custom Cakes and Desserts in Summerhill; remarks by Bishop Mark and Proclaim! Magazine Executive Editor Tony DeGol; and prayers by the Very Reverend Alan Thomas, Vicar General of the diocese and the Very Reverend John Byrnes, Judicial Vicar of the Diocese.

Young adult priests and religious serving in the diocese were also invited to the event.

The honorees were presented with caricatures of themselves with images of their parishes by Amanda Fettro-Woodruff, art teacher at Bishop McCort Catholic High School in Johnstown.
