Student Entrepreneurs Support THON

From Saint Matthew School

The members of Tyrone’s Saint Matthew Catholic School’s entrepreneurial business, The Rescue Aid, expressed their gratitude to the Saint Matthew family for their wonderful support of their Christmas Bazaar store held in December.

The students learned how to use income and expenses to determine the profit made with the store and are so excited to share that, after paying all expenses, the business made a profit of $400.75!

The youth entrepreneurs also selected Penn State Altoona THON as the recipient of these funds.

“The chance to help kids with cancer was important to us,” said CFO Kennedy Shaffer.

CEO Rian McManigal added, “Everyone selected them as the charity we wanted to help.”

This wonderful experience of creating and running a business and, equally important, seeing how their efforts can help others, is part of the core mission of Saint Matthew School.
