The Saint Joseph’s Catholic Academy (SJCA) Administration and Board of Trustees are very excited to announce the hiring of Joe Rose as Head Coach, Softball. Coach Rose has served the SJCA community as Assistant Softball Coach the past two seasons and has graciously agreed to lead the program into the next phase of development, building upon the solid foundation laid by our previous Head Coach Bill Myers. Coach Rose has an exemplary athletics background, and is a man of strong faith, a combination which should bode well at for the future of SJCA Softball as we strive to build another marquee Wolfpack sports program.

Coach Rose graduated from Chambersburg Area High School (PA) in 1995, where he was a three-sport letter winner in Football, Wrestling, and Baseball. After high school, Coach Rose moved onto Penn State University, where he played linebacker on the Nittany Lions football team from 1995-99. After graduation from Penn State, Coach Rose played football in Germany and also had opportunities with several Arena Football teams. His softball coaching experience includes stints as Assistant Coach at Tyrone Junior and Senior High Schools (2017-20) and at St. Joe’s (2021-23). This season will be Coach Rose’s first opportunity to serve as a head coach at the varsity level.

Coach Rose has been married since 2002 to his wife Ginger, who is currently a Secondary Math Teacher at State High. The Roses have three children – Artyr, who was adopted from Ukraine in 2011 when he was 15 years old, Grace, who is a sophomore at Bob Jones University, and Jordyn, who is currently a senior at SJCA. In their spare time, the Rose’s also raise whitetail deer.

In addition to serving as a coach and father, “Pastor Joe” has also been the Lead Pastor at Nittany Bible Church since 2011. Prior to becoming Pastor at Nittany Bible Church, Joe founded Play by Faith ministries, where he ministered to college athletes at Penn State, Bloomsburg, Lock Haven, Lycoming, and Bucknell Universities.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity to take the next step in my coaching journey as the Head Coach of the Wolfpack here at Saint Joseph’s. Our goal will be to build on the foundation that Coach Bill Myers has laid to create a lasting impact on the field and off the field for the current and future young women at SJCA.”

SJCA is extremely fortunate to have a leader of the caliber of Joe Rose as Head Coach of the Wolfpack softball program. Please join us in thanking Joe for taking on this challenge and wishing him the best of luck in leading the program into the future.
