The Diocese is mourning the passing of a senior priest.
Reverend Bernard L. White passed on April 9, 2025.
Born on June 2, 1949, in Langdondale, Bedford County, Father White was ordained a priest on May 7, 1977, at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona.
Among his early assignments were Associate Pastor at Saint Joseph Parish in Renovo, Our Lady of Victory Parish in State College, and Saint Thomas the Apostle Parish in Bedford.
He served as Pastor of Saint Michael Parish in West Salisbury and Saint Mary Parish in Pocahontas from 1988 until 2000 and Administrator of Seven Dolors of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish in Beans Cove from 1990 until 2000.
He was appointed Pastor of Saint Joseph Parish in Williamsburg in 2000, a post he held until 2004. During those years, Father White also served in prison ministry at SCI Smithfield, Huntingdon County.
He served as Pastor of Immaculate Conception Parish in Dudley from 2004 until his retirement and appointment to Senior Priest status in 2014.
A funeral Mass for Father White was celebrated on April 12 at Immaculate Conception Parish.
