Parishes to Celebrate Rorate Masses

Three Johnstown parishes will host a beloved Advent tradition once again this year over three consecutive Saturday mornings.

Rorate Masses are traditional Votive Masses celebrated during Advent in honor of the Blessed Mother.

They happen in the pre-dawn darkness, illuminated only by candlelight, with the church gradually brightening as sunrise occurs, symbolizing the coming of Christ as the Light of the World.

Locally, Rorate Masses will be celebrated on December 6 at Resurrection Parish in Johnstown.

Then, Saint John Gualbert Cathedral will host one on December 13.

Saint Andrew Parish in Johnstown will be the site of a Mass on December 20.

All three Masses will be at 6:30 a.m., and each will include beautiful sacred music.
