A person who attended Mass recently at a Blair County parish has tested positive for COVID-19.

The individual was present at the 4:30 p.m. Mass at Saint Mark Parish in Altoona on Saturday, September 26.

A professional cleaning company will deep-clean the church today. As a result, the 4:30 p.m. Mass scheduled for today, October 3, at Saint Mark will be celebrated at Holy Rosary Parish in Altoona. The normal Sunday Mass schedule at Saint Mark is expected to resume on October 4.

In continued alignment with public health guidelines, Bishop Mark Bartchak directs all clergy and parishioners to wear masks at all Masses and practice physical distancing. The faithful are also reminded that the Bishop continues to waive the obligation to attend Sunday Mass.

Vulnerable individuals and others who cannot attend Mass are invited to watch the Sunday Mass from Saint John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown, which is broadcast live every Sunday at 11:00 a.m. on WATM ABC 23 and rebroadcast every Sunday at 9:00 p.m. on Atlantic Broadband channel 9.

Bishop Bartchak offers continued prayers for everyone impacted by the coronavirus pandemic.Â
