Diocese to Air Christmas Programming and Masses on TV and Radio

The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown will present the annual Proclaim! TV Christmas special Joy to the World: Christmas in the Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown on December 22 at 6:00 p.m. on WWCP FOX 8. The one hour show, hosted by Tony DeGol at the historic Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel in Loretto, will include heartwarming stories of the season with priests, parishioners, and Catholic school students from throughout the diocese and beautiful Christmas music from parish choirs and Catholic school musicians. The show will also feature musical selections from the Proclaim! TV priests’ choir, comprised of various pastors from around the diocese.

The Proclaim! TV Christmas Mass from Saint John Gualbert Cathedral in Johnstown will air live on Christmas Eve, December 24 at 4:00 p.m. on WWCP FOX 8. The Mass will be celebrated by the Cathedral Rector, the Very Reverend Matthew Baum.

Bishop Mark will celebrate Christmas Mass on December 24 at 5:00 p.m. at the Basilica of Saint Michael the Archangel in Loretto in celebration of the 225th anniversary of the first Christmas Mass in Loretto celebrated by the Prince-Priest and Servant of God Demetrius Gallitzin. The Mass will launch a year-long anniversary celebration at the Basilica Parish, with festivities that include a night of Christmas music by the Basilica adult choir and Saint Michael School children’s choir on December 30 at 6:00 p.m. at the Basilica. All are welcome.

Bishop Mark will also celebrate Midnight Mass at the Cathedral of the Blessed Sacrament in Altoona. That Mass at the Cathedral will be broadcast live on radio station POP 104.5 FM Altoona and 92.1 FM Johnstown/1290 AM.

Live radio broadcasts of Midnight Mass are also planned at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Altoona on radio station WRTA 98.5 FM/1240 AM and at Saint Matthew Parish in Tyrone on radio station WTRN “The Train” 96.9 FM and 100.7 FM.
