From Bishop Carroll Catholic High School
The 2025-2026 school year at Bishop Carroll has started off looking forward in a positive direction to enhance the educational opportunities of our students. Wonderful things are happening on Husky Hill.
New Courses
New courses have been added in Engineering Technology, Computers, Today’s Tech Education, and in the near future, the Patient Care Technician program with Saint Francis University. Our Aviation and STEM programs have expanded, with new courses added in both subject areas, and additional classes and dual enrollment opportunities are planned for the next few years in all academic subject areas.
Bishop Carroll continues to partner with Saint Francis University for dual enrollment and the Professor in Residence Program. Two SFU professors come to BC to teach Business and Stats courses. Dual Enrollment opportunities through many other colleges are in place, allowing students the opportunity to earn nearly 60 credits of college work while at BC for a fraction of the cost. BC also has Articulation and Admissions Agreements with nearly a dozen Catholic colleges and universities, saving families thousands on post-secondary costs. Bishop Carroll also partners with Admiral Peary Vo-Tech. Students attend BC in the morning and then have the opportunity to attend Vo-Tech in the afternoon for a variety of trades.
New Faces
Bishop Carroll welcomes some new (and returning) faces to the school. Mr. Jonathan Nagy (BC Class of 2001) is now the principal after 20 years as a teacher and administrator. Mr. Eric Ballarino has returned to Bishop Carroll to fulfill the role of Dean of Students. Mr. Jordan Bobroski (BC Class of 2021) has joined the faculty as a social studies teacher and Mrs. Julie Wright is teaching biology. The faculty and staff have seen great stability this year, with only these few changes. Half of the faculty has advanced degrees, and many have been employed at Bishop Carroll for several years.
New Opportunities
Bishop Carroll students have new opportunities to experience, such as interactive field trips and seminars. Several classes have participated and will participate in interactive filed trips, and students will be attending events at Saint Francis University, Mount Aloysius College, and Saint Vincent College over the next few months. We believe that learning occurs in and out of the classroom and providing opportunities for our students is of utmost importance. New clubs and activities have also been established to meet the needs of our students.
Growth in Religious Opportunities
The spiritual development of our students is the top priority at Bishop Carroll. In addition to daily religion class, weekly Masses and Confessions, devotionals, and retreats, Bishop Carroll, through a grant with the Independent Catholic Foundation, offers the Hallow App free to all students and staff for personal prayer. Adding after school Bible study, more opportunities for spiritual growth and reflection weekly in the chapel, Catholic speakers, and the establishment of prayer groups, among several other activities, greatly enhances the Catholic base for our students.
Renovations
Bishop Carroll has been working to renovate and upgrade areas of the building to better meet the needs of our students. In recent years, the Media Center, Chapel, and gym floor have seen major changes, and a large portion of the building has seen the installation of new energy efficient windows. Over the last few months, the entire building has been painted, the office has been remodeled, the Husky Store was relocated, and the front of the building has had a refresh. In the coming months and years, the STEM and science labs will undergo renovations, more windows will be replaced, and the Ray Boley Atrium in the BC gymnasium will not only bring the building into modern times, but at the same time honor one of the school’s biggest supporters.
New Students
We are proud to welcome in the second largest freshman class over the last decade to Bishop Carroll! Additionally, several students, with possibly a few more on the way for the second semester, have enrolled from all around the world in the International Program. A few new upperclassmen have also joined us, leading to enrollment growth for the third year in a row!
Same Focus
Above all, our focus still remains the same – a complete education, rooted in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Bishop Carroll Catholic High School exists to educate students in spirit, heart, mind, and body while preparing them to be the best possible members of their families, communities, church, and world.
