Mount Aloysius offers an affordable and practical first step towards a future with a Ph.D. in Pharmacy. Under a joint agreement between Duquesne University and Mount Aloysius College, undergraduate students who have successfully completed specific core
course requirements at Mount Aloysius College may apply for admittance to the Duquesne Pharmacy School.
Tommy Pisula has spent two years taking Natural Science courses at Mount Aloysius College. Pisula, of Scottdale, Pa., has recently been accepted admittance to the Duquesne School of Pharmacy. “Starting my education at Mount Aloysius allowed me to easily transition from high school to college, I never felt lost in the numbers here and my professors truly gave me the attention and time I needed to succeed,” Pisula said. “I feel like I have a great foundation to build off of for pharmacy school.”
This cooperative program between Mount Aloysius College and Duquesne University is a six-year doctoral program leading to the Doctor of Pharmacy degree. The pre-pharmacy early-entry program at Mount Aloysius College allows academically qualified students to attend Mount Aloysius College for two or three years of pre-pharmacy coursework before transferring to the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy for the professional phase of their studies. This partnership gives students who successfully complete their time at
Mount Aloysius College preferential consideration for admission to the professional phase of the Pharmacy Program at Duquesne University.
Pisula, who has been a standout in the classroom and basketball court for the Mounties, will graduate with an Associate’s degree in Natural Science from Mount Aloysius College. “This partnership gives students the best of both worlds. You get to experience two different college campus environments and these past two years gave me the opportunity to continue playing basketball at the College’s great gym facilities.”
