Saint John the Evangelist Parish in Everett and Saint Stephen Parish in McConnellsburg are offering novena prayers for an end to the war in Ukraine.
This novena asks the intercession of Saint Catherine of Alexandria, a philosopher who lived in Alexandria in the 4th century.
She was known for her wisdom during this life and her powerful intercession was recognized in the Church in the medieval time.
Saint Catherine is also known as Saint Catherine the Great Martyr and is honored by Eastern Christians.
The novena runs from November 16 to Saint Catherine’s feast day on November 25.
