Bishop McCort Celebrates 2022 Homecoming

Bishop McCort Catholic High School students recently celebrated homecoming week concluding with the crowning of the 2022 Homecoming Queen, Lily Newcomer, during half-time of the September 9th football game vs. Richland. Alexis Dimond-Smith, Bishop McCort’s 2020 Homecoming Queen did the honors.

Members of the Homecoming Court are as follows (left to right): Alayna Marion, Lily Newcomer, Lauren Mucciola, Olivia Cover, Rose Long.

Alayna Marion is the daughter of Garett and Laurie Marion. Alayna is a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Parish in Johnstown. Alayna is the National Honor Society Vice President. She is a member of the Mini-Thon Leadership team. She is a member of the French and Key clubs, as well as a member of l’ Education ‘en Vogue and SADD. Alayna is captain of the volleyball team and a member of the softball team. Alayna plans to attend Seaton Hill University and major in marketing with a concentration in Sport’s Management.

Lily Newcomer is the daughter of Tom and Heather Newcomer. Lily is a member of Saint Benedict Parish in Johnstown. Lily is the Senior class president, and Spanish Honor Society President as well as an officer of the National Honor Society. Lily
is a member of Mu Alpha Theta. She is a member of the Pep, Rosary, and Girls in Faith Together clubs as well as a member of l’Education en Vogue. Lily is also a student athletic trainer. Lily plans to pursue a doctorate at a division one university.

Lauren Mucciola is the daughter of John and Janice Mucciola. She is a member of Saint Benedict Parish. Lauren is president of the National Honor Society, and a member of Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Lauren is a member of the Mini-Thon Leadership Team, as well as a member of the Art, Spanish, and Travel clubs. She is also a member of L’Education en Vogue and SADD. Lauren is the tennis team captain, and she is on the math team. Lauren plans to attend the University of Pittsburgh to major in marketing.

Olivia Cover is the daughter of Debbie Cover. She is a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Parish. Olivia is a member of the Out of His Mind Competition Dance Company as well as a member of the junior teaching staff. Olivia is a member of McCort’s Mini-Thon Leadership team, Student Council, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and Mu Alpha Theta. Olivia is also a member of the Pep, Art, Rosary, and Key clubs, as well as SADD. Olivia plans to major in kinesiology while pursuing a modern dance concentration.

Rose Long is the daughter of Chuck and Corina Long. She is a member of Ebensburg United Methodist Church. Rose is a member of Student Council, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honors Society, Spanish Honors Society and a member of the Mini-Thon Leadership team. She is a member of the tennis, cheer, and math teams. Rose is a
member of the Key, Spanish, Pep, and Travel Clubs, as well as a member of SADD. Rose plans to attend a four-year university and major in architecture.

Throughout Homecoming Week, the court held fundraising events during lunch raising $716 for The Humane Society of Cambria County.
